ADI Commitment on Coverage and VPD elimination

Monitor progress towards achieving the goals of global and regional immunization plans.

Why it matters

Immunization coverage is the key indicator showing to what extent children in a given country are protected from vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs). In addition to increasing immunization coverage beyond the current levels, global and regional immunization plans also call on countries to work towards the elimination of specific diseases. Recent disease outbreaks across Africa remind us that low immunization coverage rates can leave countries vulnerable to deadly diseases. Investing in routine immunization is essential to reach the unreached with life-saving vaccines.
